We all wish for a happy life full of energy and vitality, able to deal with all our daily challenges. But often stress and negative emotions wear us down. We feel drained, overwhelmed or depressed. This has a negative effect on our health. But we can break this cycle! Nowadays it is well known that our emotional and physical wellbeing are directly influenced by our mental state. Therefore how can we improve our mental health?
In this Public Talk Gen Kelsang Devi will explain the connection between our wellbeing and our mental state. Just as we need to care for our body and engage in exercise, so our happiness depends on good mental health that we can achieve through engaging in meditation and cultivating positive thought patterns. During this evening we will get to know powerful tried and tested methods that we can apply in our everyday lives.
Gen Kelsang Devi is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Switzerland as well as Kailash International Retreat Center in Törbel (Valais) and a modern Buddhist nun. She is a senior teacher of the New Kadampa Tradition having studied and practiced Kadampa Buddhism for 20 years under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
During this time Gen Devi has engaged in extensive silent meditation retreat and has also taught and skilfully guided numerous group retreats around the world. Gen Devi’s experience makes her teachings and guidance in retreats very powerful, clear and practical. Her joyful warmth and humour make them accessible to everyone. She is an inspiring example of modern Buddhism in practice and is dedicated to helping everyone find peace in their minds through the experience of meditation and to use Buddha’s timeless teachings to discover real happiness in modern life.
