Can anyone attend your courses, even if one is not a Buddhist?
Yes – everyone is welcome at the Kadampa Meditation Centre. No one is excluded, no matter their background. The methods and practices taught here are suitable for everyone – no matter how much or how little experience. Modern Kadampa Buddhism offers practical and effective tools to anyone who wishes to overcome modern stress and difficulties, and it is a great pleasure for us to assist in the discovery of the benefits of following Buddhistic advice.
If I am not able to attend, what will I miss?
The talks are self-contained. Even for series that extend over several weeks, each evening addresses a different topic, ideal for drop-in attendance.
Do I have to wear special clothing?
No – please come as you are. In KMC Switzerland there are chairs as well as meditation cushions available. If you prefer to sit on a cushion, it is recommended to bring or wear loose clothing. Traditionally you are requested to remove your shoes before entering the temple. The floor is heated and there are wool socks upon request.
Do I need meditation experience to participate?
No – many people who come to our events have had little or no prior experience. Neither does it matter if you previously haven’t had much success at meditating. In the beginning every one is challenged, since our mind is naturally very busy. The Kadampa Meditation Centre is an ideal place to train in inner peace.
How many people usually attend?
Attendance varies according to the topic, season, etc. Generally attendance ranges between 5-30 people, for big events and certain workshops, then sometimes considerably more.
Is assisted hearing available during the event?
Yes – provided we are notified in time, we can set up the equipment, so that people requiring hearing assistance can also participate.
Is the center wheelchair accessible?
Yes – the meditation room is level with the ground floor and can be accessed with a wheelchair.
