There will be daily meditations and teachings to explain the practice of Medicine Buddha. In the evenings there will also be a session of chanted prayers. Everybody is welcome to attend the whole festival or just parts of it.
In the breaks every festival goer helps with a small job, such as chopping vegetables, serving etc.. Who is Medicine Buddha?
Medicine Buddha is the Healing Buddha, also called Buddha Doctor whose function is to release living beings from outer and inner sickness by bestowing blessings upon them. By relying upon Medicine Buddha sincerely, we can be cured of heavy physical and mental disease, find release from the internal pain of the three poisons – attachment, anger and ignorance – and receive protection from many other dangers and obstacles. Through meditating on his practice we will also receive special energy of body, speech and mind, which enables us to help others through healing actions.
What is an empowerment?
An empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we receive a Buddha’s inspiring blessings. It is an ancient ritual that’s been handed down from Buddha himself to his disciples and has been passed down from generation to generation. It’s a special opportunity where we can connect to a particular Buddha, which helps us to awaken Buddha’s qualities within ourselves.
