Swiss, Italian & Austrian Dharma Festival 2020
Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment & Commentary to the Liberating Prayer
Join our annual Swiss, Italian and Austrian Dharma Festival and be uplifted and inspired. At this year’s event we will have the wonderful opportunity to receive the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni from Gen-la Kelsang Kunsang. Buddha Shakyamuni is the founder of buddhism in our world. Through his compassionate heart he revealed how living beings can liberate themselves from all sufferings and fear. As a result of following his advice we are able to become a pure being just like him.
This empowerment is a beautiful guided meditation which enables us to make a special connection with Buddha, receive his powerful blessings, and by following his instructions we can awaken our own spiritual potential for supreme permanent inner peace and happiness.
On this occasion Gen-la Kunsang will also give teaching and commentary to the ‘Liberating Prayer’, a beautiful prayer composed by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. This is a prayer of praise and respect recited at the beginning of teachings, meditations and prayers in Kadampa Buddhist Centres throughout the world. A chance to gain a deep understanding of the meaning of this special prayer and its benefits we receive from reciting it. The festival ends with a one day retreat.
What to expect?
The festival begins with an introduction on Friday evening, followed by the Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment and commentary on “Liberating Prayer” over the next few days. Several meditations and teaching sessions are offered daily to explain this practice. In the evenings there is a session with chanted prayers. The festival ends with a one day retreat.
During the breaks each participant helps with small jobs such as preparing and serving vegetables together. However, there is also plenty of time for walks and to enjoy the company of others. The whole festival will be held in English and translated into German, French and Italian.
Gen-la Kelsang Kunsang is the National Spiritual Director of Switzerland, Italy and Austria, and a former Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU and the Principle Teacher for KMC Edinburgh in Scotland. She has been a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for more than 25 years, during which time she has travelled the world teaching meditation and explaining Buddha’s teachings. She has won the admiration and affection of many students through her loving-kindness and extraordinary pure example of a modern-day Kadampa practitioner. Her teachings are powerful and clear.
This year’s Swiss Dharma Celebration will take place at Kailash International Retreat Center.
